Referencing Marylin’s dress, the whole installation is called the “Flying skirt”. Approaching the Installation, the visitors are attracted by a floating shape.
The Flying skirt has been translated into a 3D model and becoming a larger physical sculptural installation. It is drawn in 3D as frozen geometry and creates a whole space of exhibition and intimate experience.
The tribute to the nameless female stars comes as an ephemeral projection onto the flying skirt. The projection is working with lights and shadows to recall the destiny of each of the woman honoured by the exhibition.
The cinematographic sequence gives a notion of time and dynamic. The Stars are definitely ephemeral and reminds us about the illusion of the fame concept.
The pictures are projected under or above the skirt, in the shadow of the whole icon. The presence of the Marylin´s dress shapes dominates with an iconic presence, and create space.
The project uses a recyclable white printable plastic. The concept of sustainability is as well an important part of the design. The whole shape will be 3D printed ; aiming and minimising the carbon footprint involved in the production.
The structure is a double skin trussed within its thickness as an efficient and performant structure. The whole shape is without supports on the floor and is completely suspended to the slab above.
