The aim of the 2 steps competition (involving 15 participants) was the planning of the replacement of the Kurgarten Bridge and the Casino Bridge, which were destroyed in the Ahr floods in 2021.

In addition, it included the design of the adjascent public streets and open spaces as well as riverbank zones in the vicinity of the bridges along the the Ahr river.
