New Opportunities in Albania
Tiranë, Albania

Albania is entering an exciting period of transformation, with significant investment, urban development and new opportunities shaping the country’s built environment. During a recent visit to Tirana, STERLING PRESSER Architects + Engineers took the opportunity to explore this evolving context and better understand where our integrated approach to architecture and engineering could contribute.
A key part of the visit was our meeting with the Albanian Investment Development Agency (AIDA). The discussions provided valuable insight into Albania’s current development priorities, investment landscape and ambitions for the future, as well as the opportunities emerging across different sectors of the built environment.
Understanding the local perspective was equally important. We met with Atelier 4, a leading Albanian architecture practice, and Modern Engineering, exchanging ideas and experiences around architecture, engineering, collaboration and the particular opportunities and challenges of delivering projects in Albania.
These conversations went beyond individual projects. They offered an opportunity to better understand the local market, the people shaping Albania’s development and the expertise already present within the country. For us, international collaboration starts with establishing this understanding before moving towards design and project development.

At STERLING PRESSER, we believe that architecture and engineering are most effective when considered together from the outset. Our integrated approach allows us to bring architectural thinking, technical expertise, and sustainable design strategies together to respond to the specific character and requirements of each place.
Our visit to Tirana resulted in new connections, valuable insights, and a stronger understanding of the opportunities ahead. We return to Berlin with the intention of continuing these conversations and exploring how our experience can contribute to Albania’s evolving built environment.
We would like to thank AIDA, Atelier 4 and Modern Engineering for the open and inspiring conversations and for sharing their perspectives on Albania’s future.
